Sentinel Talent Trees

These are the talent tree builds I am planning on using for my character, Loman-Kai, in Star Wars The Old Republic. Click the links below to view how I plan to set my talents up as I progress through the game.

Level 20

This build is for PvE play. I may create a separate PvP build if Bioware ever allow dual-specs. My experience with dps builds in previous games has shown me that maximising critical damage and critical chance has had the most benefit, so I have tried to take that into account with my decisions, but I will be focusing mainly on the Watchman tree.

At level 20 I plan to have my build at 3/3/5 (Combat/Focus/Watchman). The final build will be 7/3/31, but I wanted to spend some early points in the other trees to maximise damage output. I've found at these earlier levels survival is not really an issue, even against elites, so decided to focus on damage and leave defence until later.

All of the abilities apart from Valor and Focused Slash I have chosen at this first tier will increase my damage output. I think Valor is an important ability to pick up early as it helps to build Centering. Sentinel combat rotations are all about building Centering as quickly as possible so that Zen can be activated (which gives different bonuses depending on your stance. In the stance I will be mainly using, Juyo Form, this means the next six burn (damage-over-time) attacks will have a 100% critical chance.



Level 30

At level 30 I am still concentrating on the Watchman tree, with just an extra two points allocated to the Combat tree. These will be used to raise Defensive Forms, which as well as building 2 Centering when I am attacked will reduce damage whilst I am in Juyo Form.

The other talents I am taking are all on the Watchman tree. Juyo Mastery in conjunction with Searing Saber will substantially increase the critical chance and critical damage of my burn (dot) abilities. Merciless Zeal will give me a small heal when by burn abilities critical and also opens up the next tier of the tree. I have decided not to put any points into Inflammation for now (it has a chance to slow the enemy's movement rate) but may consider it for a PvP build in the future.



Level 40

By level 40 I will have completed all the abilities in the Combat tree that I wish to use by putting two points into Stagger. This combined with Blurred Speed, Close Quarters and Focused Leap will make Force Leap a much more important and effective part of my arsenal.

Putting the final point into Repelling Blows will further increase my dps.



Level 50

By level 50 I will have finished filling out the Watchman tree, by maximising all of the skills in tiers 5, 6 and 7.
